What have you done to Las Camelias?! Don't worry, it's all good.
Supporters like you are to "blame" for all of the amazing things happening in the rural Guatemalan community of Las Camelias. Your generosity has transformed this community into a true success story. What do we mean?
- "I have taught for 20 years, but it wasn't until I completed the CORP [Culture of Reading Program] training and started implementing these changes in my classroom that I saw an incredible turn around in my students' performance and attitudes." -Vilma Gladys Chicol, 2nd Grade Teacher at Las Camelias, pictured above.
- First grader Lesvia (pictured above) won a school-wide speaking award. Normally the older students, who have more poise and experience win, but with Lesvia's experience in CORP, she had no fear giving her presentation in front of the audience. (Only the first and second graders have been exposed to CORP - the older grades will join the program in the coming years.)
In a mere 45 seconds, CoEd's Rony Mejías captures the excitement of being at Las Camelias, a community committed to fulfilling their potential, thanks to your support.
